Nestled at the Top of the Town, beside Stirling Castle, the Church of the Holy Rude is a magnificent historic venue with the grandeur of a small cathedral. Steeped in royal history, it was a favoured place of worship for the Stuart Kings. Mary, Queen of Scots worshiped here, and in 1567, her son, James VI, was crowned within these very walls, with a sermon delivered by John Knox – all while she remained a prisoner in Lochleven Castle.  

The church’s rich heritage extends to James VI’s commissioning of the Authoried Version of the Bible, and later, his ascension as James I of England following the Union of the Crowns in 1603.  

Beyond its remarkable history, the Church of the Holy Rude offers an atmosphere of timeless beauty. Featuirng one of the finest Romantic Organis in Europe and stunning stained glass windows, its intimate yet grand architecture makes it a truly enchanting choice of weddings.
