Showing the Church in a new light
The stunning stained glass windows in the Church of the Holy Rude tell a myriad of stories of the Church itself and the historic city of Stirling. From the Guildry, celebrating the city’s trades and their contributions, to making Stirling the city it is today, to Stirling as a garrison town with the local regiment based at the nearby Castle, the city’s history is mapped out in beautiful, colourful detail throughout the Church’s stained glass.
Also, now on view to visitors for the first time, a film clip from the 1940s shows the extensive restoration of the Church that saw the stunning oak beam roof re-exposed – one of the best remaining examples of an original hammer beam roof in Scotland. Visitors can enjoy this newly uncovered story alongside the Church’s stunning architecture and beautiful stained glass.
